Summary[]
Inspired by a candidate for mayor that the kids see on TV, Tommy and Phil campaign to see who will be the mayor of the Rugrats. With Susie as Tommy's campaign manager and Angelica as Phil's, will these elected officials run a clean race, or will dirty politics be involved? - Description from Klasky Csupo
Plot[]
After seeing someone on TV running for mayor of their town, the Rugrats vote to see who's going to be "mayor" of their group -- Tommy or Phil. Angelica decides to be Phil's campaign manager and Susie decides to be Tommy's. Meanwhile, Didi and Betty work on mailouts in support of the town's mayoral candidate -- Sheila Swann.
Trivia[]
- Susie tells the babies about the famous story of George Washington cutting down a cherry tree and then confessing to his father because he could never tell a lie. This "event" was actually a legend, made popular by Parson Weems.
- In the 10th anniversary documentary, Still Babies After All These Years, composer Bob Mothersbaugh recalled writing "snot-bubble music" for when Dil blew a bubble from his nose for this episode.
- The episode ends with a rock carving similar to Mount Rushmore with the babies' faces carved into it.
- Morals:
- Don't take fake versions of the real thing seriously.
- Always keep your promises.
- Be honest and truthful.
