Summary

Angelica has an identity crisis when she gets bubble gum stuck in her hair. - Description from Paramount+

Plot

The episode starts off with Angelica telling a story to her classmates at the Whole Child Center about why she's wearing her winter cap -- one day, while she and the other Rugrats were at Tommy's house, Didi's heading off to an art event at Betty's Beans, so Gabi (along with Grandpa Lou) is in charge of taking care of the kids while she's gone. Didi gets a little worried for Gabi's sake, because even though it's not her first time with babysitting her and her friends' kids, it is Gabi's first time babysitting all of them at the same time -- Gabi assures Didi that she'll be fine. After Didi leaves, Angelica gets excited upon seeing that Gabi has some gum on her and asks if she can have some of it -- but Gabi politely declines, arguing that Angelica's too young to have it.

When Lou asks for Gabi's help on how to take better selfies, Angelica promises to keep an eye on the younger kids while Gabi's gone -- during this time, Angelica sneaks some of the gum that Gabi has and likes the flavor of it, ultimately eating the entire pack. When she hears the kitchen door open, Angelica gets startled and think it's Gabi, but it turns out to be Spike coming in to get something to eat. Angelica then realizes that she accidentally tossed the wad of gum into her hair, as it landed on one of her pigtails -- Gabi's still outside with Grandpa Lou, and obviously not wanting to get in trouble, Angelica takes some pots and pans into the living where the other kids are and claims that it's game she came up with. But the pot on Angelica's head falls off, revealing that the wad of gum stuck in her hair to the other kids. Angelica admits her situation to the other kids but is worried about Gabi getting in trouble with Aunt Didi for it, so the other kids try helping Angelica get the gum out of her hair. Susie claims that when she had gotten some Colby Clay stuck in her hair, Lucy took her to a hairstylist to get it fixed. When Angelica makes it clear that she doesn't want to do that, Chuckie suggests simply admitting the truth about what happened to Gabi -- but, not wanting to get herself (or Gabi) into trouble, Angelica decides to go with Susie's idea.

The kids all head to the upstairs bathroom and the younger kids do their best to make Angelica's situation better, but they ultimately just make it worse -- this makes Angelica mad, and she orders them out of the bathroom. When Gabi comes upstairs and sees the younger kids gathered outside the bathroom door, Gabi ultimately coaxes Angelica to come out, which makes Gabi realize why Angelica was hiding out in there -- Didi soon comes home and Lou brags about how Gabi helped him greatly improve his selfie skills. Jonathan soon arrives at Lou and Didi's house to pick up Angelica, but then Gabi comes downstairs and reveals to the adults about what happened. Lou, Didi and Jonathan eventually arrive at the upstairs bathroom and see Angelica's situation -- Angelica (now crying profusely) admits that it was her fault and not Gabi's. Claiming that Gabi's the best babysitter ever, Angelica admits that she just couldn't stop herself when it came to trying the gum.

Lou and Didi are unsure of what to do, but just as Didi's about to call Charlotte and explain the situation to her, Jonathan -- knowing Charlotte better than basically anyone outside of her family, he claims that the best thing to do would be to just cut all the gum and other stuff out of Angelica's hair before her current situation gets any worse. The adults give Angelica her haircut and things are ultimately okay in the end.

Angelica finishes telling the story to her classmates, and after a little prodding from the other kids, she takes off her cap to show off her current hairstyle, which is now just one pigtail instead of two.

Trivia

  • Dil is completely absent in this episode (he's neither seen nor mentioned at any point) -- this is the first time (since his debut) where he's absent. It's possible that the events of this episode (somehow) take place before he was born (and possibly before Didi even became pregnant with him).
  • Jonathan claims to have been working for Angelica's mother, Charlotte, for at least four years -- since Angelica's only three (just like back in the original seroes), he must've started working for Charlotte at least a year before Angelica was born. This is also the first episode of the reboot where Jonathan appears without Charlotte (although she is mentioned).
