Summary

Tommy and his friends think baby Dil is an alien blob and try to return him home to outer space. - Description from Paramount+

Plot

Tommy, Chuckie, Susie and the twins are hanging out at the park with Didi, Betty and Tommy's newborn brother, Dil. Didi's clearly having a hard time adjusting to suddenly having to take care of two kids (especially with how young Tommy still is) and questions her best friend on how she handled taking care of the twins when they were newborns. Betty admits that it was (and still is) difficult and adds that you'll have to give up certain things in order to make it work. Didi receives a message from her parents, who're coming to visit -- it turns out that they've bought a food truck and are planning to stay in town permanently, partly to be closer to Didi and her family. Boris and Minka are excited to see Tommy and the other kids, and are especially excited to meet their new grandson, Dil. When Boris calls Dil an "alien blob" (out of affection), Tommy and the other kids think that the hospital must've sent home the wrong baby and vow to take Dil (who they're now referring to as "Blobby") back to his original home planet and bring back Tommy's brother.

To help adjust to the new changes in her life, Didi's been attending a "Parent, Toddler and Baby" support group being held at the park -- all the parents in it are people who, just like Didi, are having to adjust to raising a newborn while still having to raise a young toddler. While talking about various mishaps with their kids, Didi admits to the other parents in the group that she's worried her sons are having trouble bonding and mentions how Tommy just stares at his brother a lot, almost acting like they're strangers to each other. Didi's parents soon come by in their new food truck to serve up their products to Didi and the other parents. While this is happening, Tommy and the other kids grab Dil to take him back to his home planet -- during this time, they run into Pierce, who's going through a similar situation with his own newborn sister, Piper. Pierce tells the others (after they've gotten Dil mixed up with the other babies) that they have to find the one that acts the most like Tommy -- they eventually find Dil, who starts mimicking some of Tommy's mannerisms, making him and the others realize that Dil is in fact Tommy's brother.

After returning Dil to his baby carrier, Aaron (Pierce and Piper's dad) points how to Didi that Tommy seems to be bonding just fine with his brother, figuring that she doesn't have much to worry about. Didi's parents also assure their daughter that she'll be just fine with raising two kids, just like how they were with raising two kids.

Tommy's happy to have finally bonded with his newborn brother, and Pierce comes over and assures Tommy and the others that while all babies start off as "blobs" at first, they will eventually grow into bigger kids just like how they are now.

Trivia

  • Didi's back to wearing her signature floor-length long-sleeved red dress after wearing maternity clothes (due to her pregnancy with Dil) for the last five episodes.
  • Starting from this episode, Didi's parents (Tommy and Dil's maternal grandparents) are now living in the Rugrats-hometown, where they're running a food truck called "The Blintzmobile," from which they're selling traditional Jewish food.
  • Didi's confirmed to have at least one sibling in the reboot, as Boris and Minka remind their daughter of how they themselves had raised two kids, just like Did is doing with her sons. Didi had a younger brother in the original named Benjamin (more commonly called "Ben" for short).
    • Uncle Jake's Day Out reveals that Didi has a younger brother in the reboot just like in the original series -- but in the reboot, her brother's name is Jacob (more commonly called "Jake" for short).
  • The Carmichaels (or at least Randy) must like pineapple on their pizza, because Susie claims that her dad once tried ordering a pizza topped with pineapple and ham (which are the toppings that make up a Hawaiian Pizza) but they ended up getting a mushroom pizza instead.
    • After Susie reveals this, it turns out that the twins (or at least Lil) don't like mushrooms, finding them to be gross even by their standards.
  • Pierce (Susie's friend from "Captain Susie") is revealed to have a younger sister named Piper.
    • This episode marks the first appearance of Pierce's father, Aaron, who also mentions Zelda (his wife/Pierce's mom). Zelda doesn't make her first physical appearance until "Flamingo Dance."
  • Everyone stating Dil looks like an alien is very ironic, as in All Grown Up!, he grows to have a clear obsession with them.
