Tanya and Rupert are gerbils that were temporary replacement pets for Spike in Spike Runs Away and the last replacement pets featured in the episode. Stu buys them along with an elaborate habitat. Tommy and Chuckie accidentally release Tanya and Rupert by opening the door to their habitat to see if they could come like Spike. Two weeks later, they are loose in the house and leaving "presents" (gerbil poop) everywhere. Tommy and Chuckie later find Tanya and Rupert in the basement, where they had been reproducing in mass numbers.
