Mr

Mr. Yamaguchi is the CEO/President (and possibly the founder) of Yamaguchi Industries, an international corporation based in Japan that also happens to own the Reptar franchise. Charlotte Pickles often comes into contact with him. He loves children and believes that his company should exist to bring joy and laughter to children.

Description[]

Mr. Yamaguchi is a middle-aged Japanese man who served as the head of Yamaguchi Industries, an international corporation that is also the parent company of the Reptar franchise (including EuroReptarLand). During the events of Rugrats in Paris: The Movie, it's revealed that he's planning to eventually step down as the head of Yamaguchi Industries and was in the process of finding a replacement.

Coco LaBouche, who was in charge of EuroReptarland, was one of the many employees under consideration. However, Yamaguchi wanted his successor to be concerned with more than just money -- one of the main requirements he wanted for his successor was for them to good with children, especially since children are the main audience for the Reptar-franchise. When Coco lied by claiming that she loved children and was even engaged to a man with a child of his own, he was delighted by this and promised to discuss the promotion with Coco after her wedding.

After the Rugrats finally made it to the wedding, Angelica explained to Mr. Yamaguchi how Coco was deceived him and how she had manipulated a man into doing what she wanted. After learning of this, he fired Coco on the spot before leaving the would-be wedding. He isn't seen again after this and, assuming he went through with stepping down as the head of Yamaguchi Industries, it is unknown who he chose as his successor.

Appearance[]

Mr. Yamaguchi first physically appeared in Rugrats in Paris. He had been mentioned numerous times before that, usually by Charlotte, who holds him in very high regard. Sometimes, he is described as being part of MegaCorp, other times he is head of a different company that Charlotte wishes to merge MegaCorp with. He is an older man, probably in his late 50's or early 60's, given his baldness, dark gray hair and wrinkles. He wears glasses and has a small, thin mustache.

During his video conference with Coco, he is wearing a dark formal suit with a white handkerchief folded up in his pocket. When he attends the wedding, he is seen wearing a men's kimono, geta and tabi.

Trivia[]

  • The Rugrats occasionally have trouble pronouncing his name, referring to him as 'Mr. Yummy-Guchi' and sometimes 'Mr. Yummy-Sushi'.
  • In the episode "Chicken Pops", he was mentioned to be attending the MegaCorp company picnic and it's implied in that episode that he couldn't understand English very well. This is because Charlotte tells Jonathan to make sure that the [Japanese-to-English] translator explains everything as carefully as possible to Mr. Yamaguchi, not wanting a repeat of an incident from the previous year's company picnic (Mr. Yamaguchi had dunked his head into some coleslaw due to a mistake in translation).
    • However, by the events of Rugrats in Paris, he's shown speaking perfect English -- this indicates that, after the events of Chicken Pops, he learned English.
  • Mr. Hasagawa, an associate of Yamaguchi's, appears in the episode "Miss Manners". Mr. Hasawaga shares Mr. Yamaguchi's love of children and family.
  • "Yamaguchi" basically means "Mountain Mouth" in Japanese.
  • In Rugrats in Paris, Yamaguchi was voiced by the late Japanese-American actor Makoto Iwamatsu (better known simply as "Mako"), who was known for voicing Iroh from Avatar: The Last Airbender (another Nickelodeon show) and Aku, the main antagonist of Samurai Jack (which is from Cartoon Network).
