Plot[]

The episode begins with a bluebird flying by and landing on a tree. Below, Chuckie, Kimi, and Tommy are playing hide and seek, but Chuckie stops hiding. Then Kimi does. Tommy suggests playing another game, but Chuckie notices Didi and Kira are in the garden and says "Uh-oh!". Tommy asks what is wrong and Chuckie says "she's going to smush down my hairs again. I just know it." Kimi runs up to Kira, who greets her children and pushes down Chuckie's hair. He and Kimi walk off while Didi picks up Tommy. Kira feels like she and Chuckie are "not connecting", and Didi decides to call Lipschitz to see if there is a book that might have advice.

At lunchtime, the Finsters eat spaghetti and meatballs. Chuckie has never eaten meatballs before. He finds them hard to eat and sneezes, knocking the meatball onto the floor. He then complains about that, and Kira wipes his nose. Fifi tries to eat the meatball, but Kira says it is people food, not doggy food. Chuckie blows his nose on his shirt.

At bedtime, Kimi is playing with Superthing. Chuckie does not like his new footy pajamas, as he feels his feet are trapped and he can't wiggle his toes. Kira puts the children to bed. Chuckie tries to reach Wawa, but is trapped in the blankets.

Didi visits, bringing a book by Dr. Lipschitz on step-parenting, then leaves, due to the fact that Stu is having trouble with his robotic salad spinner (he has "already broken two windows"). Kira sees that the first chapter of the book is about performing thoughtful gestures to make one's stepchild feel more welcome. This gives her an idea: she takes Wawa from Chuckie's bed, planning on giving the worn-out teddy bear a makeover.

The next morning, the children wake up. Chuckie freaks out as he can't find Wawa and worries that he ran away. At breakfast, Didi, Dil and Tommy are visiting. Chuckie tells Tommy his hypothesis that Wawa ran away due to all the changes. Tommy says that nobody in his family ran away when he got Dil, but this does not console Chuckie.

The Finster children and Tommy run down the hall and start looking for Wawa. The washing machine beeps, alerting Kira, while Tommy looks under the bed, Chuckie looks in the toy box, and Kimi looks in the closet, but they do not find Wawa. They then fruitlessly search the bathroom. By now it is lunch time. Dill spits up on Didi. Tommy and Kimi enjoy the peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, but Chuckie doesn't like his as he prefers the crust cut off. Tommy suggested he should try it, as the more he eats the crust, the more it goes away. Chuckie tries it but spits out the crust and begins to peel it off.

Kira walks in, announcing she has a surprise for Chuckie. She produces Wawa, who been not only washed, but dressed in a vest and bow tie and given new eyes. The new-look Wawa devastates Chuckie; he screams and throws Wawa across the table, where the bear gets picked up by Dil.

Chuckie is on his bed, sobbing about how Wawa is different "all over". Kira comes in and says she realizes washing and changing Wawa wasn't he best idea after all. She says there are a lot of things she doesn't fully know about Chuckie yet, such as the games and food he likes, but she still loves and respects him and hopes this can be solace to Chuckie while she learns more about him.

The next day, the Finster siblings are playing in the backyard. Kira brings Wawa, who, thanks to Dil, has had his clothes and one of his eyes removed and now sort of resembles his original self. Chuckie runs up to Kira and hugs her and goes back playing with Kimi. Chuckie says that Kira is still learning more about him, but grownups can't be expected to be perfect.

Trivia[]

  • The Finster's doorbell has the same sound as the Pickles' doorbell.
  • Chuckie wore footy pajamas before, and he didn't complain about them.
  • Chas is absent in this episode. It is assumed that he was working late these days, as it is said in the book based on this episode, Chuckie's New Mommy.
  • In Wawa's appearances after this episode, he looks the way he originally did, before Kira gave him his makeover.
  • Multiple things are revealed in this episode.
    • Chuckie's possible allergy to meatballs.
    • Kimi's quote of Kira doing the changes to her.
    • Kira's quote about the importance of family.

Goofs[]

  • When the closeup is shown of Super thing "flying", Kimi's sleeve is blue instead of pink.
  • Kira is wearing her shoes when she walks into Kimi and Chuckie's room but when the scene changes, her shoes disappear and it only shows her white socks while she walks out of the kid's bedroom with Kimi and Chuckie. After the scene changes again, Kira's shoes reappear, when she walks into the kitchen to put the kids down on the chairs.

Quotes[]

Kira: Hi, Chuckie. Well, I guess washing Wawa wasn't the best idea. You know, there is still a lot about you I don't know yet. Like your favorite sandwiches or your favorite games or the songs or stories you like. Those things may take a while. What I do know is I love you very much. I hope that will do till I get the other things sorted out.
