Sister Act is a Season 7 episode of Rugrats.

Characters Present

Plot

While their families are hanging out at a local amusement park, Angelica comes to realization that she's now the only Rugrat in the series who's an only child (Chuckie and Kimi are brother and sister while the DeVilles are fraternal twins,  and her cousins, Tommy and Dil, are brothers). Angelica's saddened by the fact that she's an only child and begins feeling jealous of the other Rugrats, since she doesn't have a sibling to hang out with. When Angelica talks to her parents about wanting a sibling, they basically tell her that they aren't ready to have more kids. So Angelica starts looking for someone who she thinks would make a good brother or sister for her (choosing someone from either Tommy, Chuckie, Phil, Lil and Kimi).

First, Angelica chooses Tommy as her new "brother," her main reason being that they're already cousins, but later ditches him after she gets in trouble for cheating at a skee ball-arcade game. She then chooses Kimi, but ditches her after Kimi pushes her really hard on a swing set, making Angelica fall off. After Kimi, Angelica chooses Chuckie and makes him make sure that no one comes on the slide while she's on it, but ditches him after a boy bullies Chuckie up the slide, and Chuckie and Angelica slide down, with Chuckie landing on Angelica.

Angelica's sad that none of the babies want the "honor" of being her brother or sister. Tommy, Chuckie, Phil, Lil and Kimi feel bad for Angelica that she doesn't have any brothers or sisters, and after Tommy talks to her, he tells her that even though she's an only child, she's like a big sister to him and the other babies, since she's often bossing them around, which Tommy claims is a "big sister"-thing. This cheers Angelica up, and she takes a picture with the rest of the babies (including Tommy's younger brother, Dil).

Trivia

  • The idea of giving Angelica a younger sibling has been thrown around the Klasky Csupo offices before. If the original series is ever brought back, she may end up getting one.
  • "Sister Act" is also the name of a movie starring Whoopi Goldberg, where her character goes undercover as a nun after she's put on a mobster's hit list.
  • Neither of the DeVille twins was chosen by Angelica to be her "brother" or "sister."
  • When Angelica brings up that she wants a sibling to her parents, one of the arguments she makes is that she doesn't have anyone to share with. This is a strong contrast to her normal selfish attitude, as seen in such episodes as Educating Angelica.
  • Angelica really is the only Rugrat in the series who's an only child. Even Susie Carmichael has two older brothers and an older sister, although the Carmichaels aren't seen or mentioned in this episode.
    • This is the only time in the entire Rugrats franchise where Angelica's actually saddened by the fact that she's an only child, because almost every time her status as an only child is mentioned, she usually expresses her thankfulness on not having any siblings.
      • One of the only times where she actually expresses the desire to have a sibling is in The Stork.

Quotes

Angelica: What's the matter with you babies? Don't any of you want the honor of being my brother or sister?
