Randall "Randy" Carmichael is the father of Susie and the husband of Lucy and the brother of his nephews's mother. He is a high school science teacher, comic book and video game fanatic. He is considered a reccuring character in Nickelodeon's 2021 animated TV series Rugrats.

Description

Randy's a high school science teacher.[1] Unlike the original show, he is a lot less mature, being a "man-child" like Stu.

Looks

Randy is an African-American man with brown skin and dark hair. He has a full set of lips like other Black characters on the show and has a pair of white eyes with black pupils (as is the usual for the show's art style). Unlike his 1991 counterpart, he no longer has any facial hair due to being younger in the 2021 series.

Trivia

  • In the reboot, Randy and Lucy are much more prominent characters than they were in the original series -- they also appear to be significantly younger than they were in the original series.
    • In the reboot, Randy and his wife appear to be around the same age as the other parents and their daughter, Susie, appears to be an only child.
  • In "Lady De-Clutter" his favorite comic book series is "Telescope Man," and his favorite issue is #188.
  • It's revealed in the episode Baby Talk, that Edwin and Buster Carmichael are now his nephews unlike in the 1991 series where they were his older sons.
  • Unlike with his wife, Randy's occupation for the reboot has changed from what it was in the original series:
    • In the original series, Randy was the executive writer for the Dummi Bears-cartoon series (with his boss being the creator of the Dummi Bears-franchise). It's unknown if the Dummi Bears even exist in the reboot.
    • For the reboot, Randy's stated to be working as a science teacher (implied to be somewhere at the high school level, as Barry and Eve are, or at least were, two of his students).
