Lillian Marie Jill "Lil" DeVille (born March 31, 2020) is a main character in Nickelodeon's 2021 animated TV series Rugrats. A bit eccentric and painfully honest, Lil sees no limit to possibilities. Together with her brother, she enjoys getting messy, rough and tumble play, and nature in the form of mud, worms, and bugs.

Description

Twins marching to the beat of their own bongos. Lil’s got an imagination almost as big as Tommy’s, while Phil is more of a realist, but that’s what makes this terrific twosome work. Their shared interests include tussling around, anything to do with monsters, and the finer parts of Mother Nature (mud, worms, frogs, etc.). - Description from Nickelodeon website

Looks

Like her 1991 counterpart, Lil's skin is mostly peach, she has a few teeth. She wears a pink undershirt with black pinstripes, a turquoise overall dress (with a handkerchief on the left side and a duck on the right), white ankle length/high socks, a pair of pink hi-top sneakers, and a pink bow in her hair.

In "Bottles Away", while explaining to Tommy of the times they gave up their bottles, a younger version of Lil appeared. Her looks had not changed much from her present-day self besides being significantly smaller in size.

Appearances

So far Lil has appeared in every episode of the 2021 series except the following episodes: "One Big Happy Family" and "Final Eclipse"

Relationships

  • Phil DeVille - Phil is Lil's twin brother, and they have most of the same interests, such as mud and worms. They occasionally squabble, but at the same time, they spend most of their time together and enjoy playing together.
  • Betty DeVille - Betty is Lil's mother, so she raises both twins and they love one another. Betty sometimes complains that the twins are hard work and/or keep her awake, but she still loves them.
  • Gabi - Gabi is Phil and Lil's older cousin, who enjoys babysitting them and their friends. Lil and the other babies generally like spending time with Gabi due to her friendly personality.
  • Tommy Pickles - Tommy is friends with Lil, and they often play together, usually alongside the other babies.
  • Chuckie Finster - Lil and Chuckie are friends, although he is sometimes disgusted by her and Phil's antics.
  • Susie Carmichael - Susie is another one of Lil's friends, and they sometimes play with the other babies together.
  • Angelica Pickles - Angelica likes to scare and insult Lil just as much as the other babies, and often finds both twins disgusting due to their habits. However, they are still friends as well, for instance, Angelica involved both twins in her play wedding in "Wedding Smashers".
  • Spike - Lil, like the other babies, enjoys playing with Spike. Due to her grody personality, Lil actually enjoys Spike's bad breath and habit of drooling, and sometimes eats from his bowl.
  • Trish - Trish is Betty's girlfriend, and unlike Phil, Lil has always liked Trish due to Trish being friendly and singing to and playing with the twins.

Trivia

  • In "Tooth or Share" several things were revealed:
    • Lil grew in a new tooth.
    • Both she and Phil love Tostones.
    • She and Phil share the same crib and use the second as a storage area for their toys.
    • Both Lil and Phil share a toy lamb named that they've had since birth.
    • Like in the original series, it's heavily implied Lil was born first.
  • In "Bottles Away" it was revealed that not only were she and her brother drinking from sippy cups at this point in the series, but they gave up their bottles when they were slightly younger than she and Phil were currently. It is also revealed how she gave up her bottle: she saw another kid at her mother's cafe drop their sippy cup, and curiously began drinking from it.
  • "Jonathan for a Day" reveals that she likes eating dog food, but likes fish food even more, yet she doesn't like cat food.
