Summary

Susie and Angelica disagree on how to use their newfound "super" ability to move things with their minds. - Description from Paramount+

Plot

Angelica and a group of other kids are sitting together, listening to a story read by Gabi about a young girl named Ginger. In the story, Ginger comes upon an apple tree and wonders how she can get the apples down from the tree. Josh suggests that Ginger get a big stick and knock them down. Gabi thanks him for his suggestion but says they should continue with the story and see what happens. In the story, Ginger concentrates and uses her mind to cause the apples to fall from the tree, one by one. Angelica asks if it's really possible to do this and Gabi replies that some people say you can. She reads that it was how Ginger knew she had a very special power, then closes the book, saying that it's the end of the chapter and they'll have to wait until tomorrow to find out what happens next.

Sitting a bench nearby, Didi comments to Betty that it's nice of her niece to volunteer as a Reading Ranger and that it's amazing how she holds their attention. Betty comments to "wait for it" and the musical sound of the ice cream truck is heard, exciting the kids and leading Betty to comment that it's like "Pavlov's monkeys." Back at home, Didi shows Betty her new memory quilt project while the babies play in the sandbox. Susie heads off to get Lou's "growled-up shovel" and encounters Angelica trying to move some oranges using only her mind. She asks what she's doing, and Angelica reluctantly explains. She then tries again, then claims to have moved one, even though nothing changed. Susie tells her that Gabi's book said it was a special power and she has to be special to move stuff.

Angelica says if Susie is special, then she should try. Susie does, but nothing happens. Angelica tells her she's not doing it right, that she has to hold her hands a certain way and make the same humming noise that Lou does when he's thinking. They do it together, eyes closed, and Lou walks up and takes an orange, knocking down two others in the process. They open their eyes and are astonished. Angelica tries to take all the credit but is forced to agree with Susie that they did it together. She says that if they want to keep doing it, they must stay together. She says it's up to Susie, if they even want to. Susie agrees they definitely do. They head off in search of something else to move and observe Didi and Betty in Didi's "she-shed." They then see Spike sleeping there and decide to try to move the old t-shirt that Spike is sleeping on. They close their eyes and concentrate and while doing so, Didi grabs the shirt. They open their eyes and are stunned to see that once again; their powers have apparently worked. Angelica tells Susie this means they're going to be famous.

Angelica declares that they must force prove that their powers work in front of an audience. They gather up the babies and Chuckie asks what's going on, why Susie is holding hands with Angelica. Tommy replies that he doesn't know, but it reminds him of the time that Didi put his diaper on backwards. Angelica tells them they're going to do a show and Susie explains that in the show, they're going to move something without their hands. Angelica asks the babies to pick something for them to move but dislikes their suggestions. She asks Susie to pick something and Susie picks Chuckie's Reptar toy. Chuckie is a bit reluctant, but figures it's okay, given that Reptar loves it when he hums to him. They place Reptar atop the edge of the sandbox and concentrate. As they do, Stu races outside, shouting about his Final Eclipse shirts, which Didi took for her project. He knocks up against the edge of the other end of the sandbox, causing the toy to fall over. Angelica and Susie hop and squeal with delight, Susie stating that they have to show Gabi the next day. Angelica agrees, saying that they're partners and stuck together for life.

The next day, the group, including the babies, arrive at Reading Rangers. Josh objects to their presence, but Gabi reminds him that she talked with him about minding his own business. Angelica tells her that she and Susie have something to show her. Susie, however, objects to the big audience, saying that she thought they were just going to show Gabi and not all the Reading Rangers. Angelica says that it's better, that they'll get more famous and start doing their show right away. Susie says that she thought they were going to wait until they were grownup to do the show. Angelica laughs at the idea that they would let some other kids get famous before them. Angelica spots a balloon sculpture in the distance and suggests they move that. They activate their "powers" just as the balloon sculpture is wheeled away on a cart. Since it is hidden behind some bushes, it appears as if it was moved by their powers. Gabi placatingly tells Angelica that it's as good as in the story and suggests they begin the next chapter. Tommy says they'll be going around the world now and Lil says they'll miss them. Susie rejects the idea, saying she's not going anywhere for a long time and that she wants to stay home with her mommy and daddy and friends.

The babies cheer and Angelica says this is the thanks she gets, and she'll just do it without her. Susie shoots back that Angelica can't do it by herself, and she knows it. Angelica looks annoyed, but Susie tells her they can be famous when their grown-ups. She suggests they move just one more thing and then stop. Angelica asks what they should move. Seeing the ice cream truck approaching, Susie says they'll open that. They sit down on the ground and hum, but the truck just passes by. Angelica says it's too much power, that she's sorry to tell Susie, but they have to quit. Susie asks if she's sure, and Angelica says they have to go back. Susie says she'll just have to go back to working on her X-ray vision. Angelica protests that she doesn't have this, and Susie asks Phil if she sees a box of gummy worms in his diaper. "Every time," agrees Phil, eating one. Susie walks forward, Angelica shouting after her that they're a team.
