Summary

Tommy takes charge to help Chuckie send a message to his Reptar doll who they think travelled back to outer space. - Description from Paramount+

Plot

In a movie, Reptar is on an alien planet dodging lasers from a group of aliens that are chasing him. Tommy shouts at him to run as he scales a mountain. Chuckie pleads that the rock is too high, even for Reptar, but Reptar makes it to the top. He lets out a roar and is spirited away by the tractor beam of a flying saucer just as the aliens catch up to him. The babies cheer, but just then the movie cuts away to a program featuring Cynthia. Tommy complains, but Angelica blames the channel change on the personal assistant device Duffy. Hearing its name, the device lights up, asking how it may assist, but Angelica says it already did. Phil and Lil grumble about missing the end of the movie, asking if Angelica is going to be there for the whole sleepover. Tommy says that he thinks so, but they can have fun without Reptar. Chuckie suggests they play with his Reptar doll. Outside, Lou is doing some gardening with Drew. Lou groans at a pain in his knee and Drew suggests a pill from his company, saying the only side effect is webbed feet. Lou tells him to keep it. They are disturbed by Stu and Spike playing frisbee, then Lou gets a call. Lou tells the person on the other end of the line to come over whenever they like, leaving Stu and Drew looking slightly astonished. Stu wonders just what it was about, but Drew says it's probably Yoga Jake coming over for a wheatgrass smoothie. They laugh at the idea.

Back inside, Chuckie shows the others a backpack, saying that his daddy packed it for him. He finds "Mr. Tippy Cup" and his blankie inside but is shocked to find that his Reptar toy isn't there, only the remote control used to make Reptar's space helmet light up. Lil asks if he's sure he really brought him, and a flashback shows Chuckie and Chas walking to the sleepover with the Reptar toy hanging off the edge of the backpack. Back at the sleepover, Tommy notes that Reptar's never been there before at night. He may simply be lost and out looking for Chuckie as well. Tommy asks Angelica to open the door, promising her that if she does, they'll get out of her hair and not make any more noise. She happily does so, though she comments to her Cynthia doll that it probably wasn't a responsible thing to do. The babies crawl out into the yard, where Stu and Drew are working on a lighting fixture for some hanging plants. Didi asks them to change the light over the She-Shed next, saying that she is going to be in there all night working on scrunchies. As Drew drags a ladder, Tommy thinks it sounds like Reptar. The lights flash, but then go out, and Chuckie laments that they're too late, that Reptar has gone back to space forever. He drops the remote, which pushes the button and causes the Reptar toy to light up. Somebody finds it and picks it up.

Lil tells Chuckie to not be sad, that Reptar will be back someday. Chuckie, however, laments that he didn't even get to say goodbye. Spike gets Drew to throw the frisbee again and meanwhile Stu gets a notification showing a woman named Celeste showing up at the front door and being invited in by Lou. He shows this to Drew noting "That's not Yoga Jake." At the door, Celeste shows the Reptar toy to Lou, asking if someone lost him. Before they can pursue the matter, however, Stu and Drew show up. Lou introduces them and Drew asks Lou if they can talk. They pull him inside, inviting Celeste to make herself at home for the time being. Celeste comes in and encounters Angelica playing with Cynthia. Angelica asks who Celeste is and she introduces herself as a friend of her grandpa, saying that Lou has told her about her. Angelica asks if Lou told her about Cynthia, saying that she doesn't usually get along with Reptar lovers. Celeste asks if she means Cynthia, "wildlife lover, racecar driver and star of her own TV show." Angelica is pleased to finally have someone who gets them. Meanwhile, Tommy searches the toy chest, hoping to find something to cheer up Chuckie, though Chuckie tells him not to bother trying. He says he only wants Reptar and he's gone, that there's so much he wanted to tell him. Tommy pulls out a toy microphone, saying that they have to go outside and find a high place, then Chuckie can say goodbye to Reptar. Chuckie seems worried about being up somewhere high.

Stu and Drew confront Lou, asking him just where and how he met Celeste. Stu asks if it's a date. Lou explains that the two of them were talking at a drum circle at the park. He says that he hopes it isn't a date, that he hasn't had one since their mother passed away. Relenting, Stu says that it's about time he did, that Mom would want it that way. He says they're going to help him, and Drew reluctantly agrees, wondering just how they're going to do this. In the living room, Celeste and Angelica bond over Cynthia's catchphrase while the babies sneak out. Celeste accidentally sits on the Reptar toy and Angelica is disgusted at the sight of it, but Celeste asks her if she thinks Chuckie loves it as much as she loves Cynthia. Angelica replies that Cynthia is her best friend but agrees that Chuckie does really love the toy. Celeste tells her to do a good thing and bring the toy back to him. Angelica reluctantly agrees, telling her not to go away, that she has more songs. Outside, Chuckie is aghast at Tommy's idea of climbing onto the She-Shed's roof to talk to Reptar. However, he says that Tommy is best friend and if he says he can climb up, then he can.

As Chuckie starts to climb, Lou and Celeste head outside to a table. Drew asks Stu if makes up for wrecking his car in high school. Stu replies that Lou's already forgotten all about that and the reservoir came out of nowhere. As Angelica heads outside to search for the babies, Chuckie makes it to the top. He begins addressing Reptar, saying that he hopes he's okay and with his friends. He says that Reptar might love being in space, but he'll be there if he ever wants to come back. He bids him goodbye as Stu prepares to put on a record. Meanwhile, Spike sees Chuckie up on the roof and goes nuts, running into Angelica and sending the Reptar toy flying. Chuckie continues that whenever he wants to say hello, he'll do this, pushing the button on the remote control. The Reptar toy arcs before landing on the ground nearby. Seeing this, Chuckie shouts for it, then loses his balance. He drops the microphone, causing feedback that sends the adults running, including Lou, who climbs up and brings him down. Seeing it, Celeste calls it wonderful. Chuckie grabs the toy, hugging it, and Tommy says he told him Reptar was looking for him, that he just needed to hear him. As he and the other babies walk off, the doors of the She-Shed open, revealing a yawning Didi and Betty. Betty comments that she now has even more respect for professional scrunchie makers. They look over at the table, wondering just what's going on. Celeste and Lou sit listening to music, Lou asking her if she wants another cupcake. She agrees, thanking him, as Stu again tosses the frisbee for Spike.

Trivia
