Foster is a minor character in the Rugrats reboot. He is a puppy who was fostered by the Pickles family before being adopted by the Carmichaels.

Description[]

This puppy is one of a number of puppies present at an adoption fair for puppies. Stu Pickles takes an immediate liking to him, saying that he looks like the puppy Mookie he received in first grade. Didi, however, points out that they already have Spike. Betty suggests that they could foster the puppy for a while until the rescue group is able to find him a permanent home and this ends up being what they do.

Once home, Tommy overhears that they are fostering the puppy and misconstrues this as the puppy's name being "Foster." He introduces the puppy to Spike , but it quickly becomes clear that Spike is bothered by the puppy's presence. Chuckie wonders if the new puppy is going to be Spike's best friend and Tommy agrees, saying that two is funner than one, but Lil is quick to point out that it doesn't always work that way. Later, as Stu continues to dote on Foster, Didi comments to Tommy that "Daddy forgot we only have room for one doggie in this house," but Tommy takes this to mean that Foster is going to replace Spike.

Together with the other babies, Tommy enacts a plan to get Foster sent away so that Spike won't be replaced. They begin staging various incidents such as Foster supposedly leaving a giant pee puddle on the floor or spreading around Didi's balls of yarn. In each incident, however, the adults simply end up blaming themselves for what happened, frustrating the babies and Spike. Desperate, they go to Angelica, who mocks them for not even being good at being bad and needing her help. Nevertheless, she agrees that Spike has been good to her in the past, so she'll help them, though not without a bribe of cookies and also because she doesn't like anything that thinks it's cuter than her. She then tricks Lou into writing a note that she intends to pass off as Foster having written himself, saying that he's run away. She and the babies then set Foster loose, only for Susie to show up with Foster in her arms. They despair at Foster's return, but a heartbroken Stu tells them that it's time to say bye-bye to the puppy, that he's going to be living at Susie's house. Tommy then hugs Spike, declaring him his "onliest dog ever," as Foster prances happily around Susie.
