Andrew Louis [citation needed] "Drew" Pickles (born May 25, 1957) is the father of Angelica Pickles, uncle of Tommy and Dil Pickles, older brother of Stu Pickles, and husband to Charlotte Pickles (1991). He works as an accountant, but unlike his workaholic wife, he still manages to fit in time with his daughter, to whom he usually addresses through nicknames - "princess", "angel", "sweetheart", "cupcake", "muffin", "pumpkin (pie)", etc. His year of birth is probably somewhere in 1957.
Description
Drew has been a semi-regular on the Rugrats TV series since the first episode, "Tommy's First Birthday". However, on All Grown Up!, Drew appears infrequently, usually as a background character, redesigned with slicked-back hair, a mustache and a bit of stubble on his chin.
Personality
Drew is very uptight and more mature than his brother Stu. While there is clearly love between the two, they often argue, as Drew is often irritated by Stu's constant deferral of more profitable career goals to financially support his family, in favor of inventing toys even though he himself is not the main breadwinner of his family. Though he is sometimes driven up the wall by Angelica's greedy, selfish, bratty behavior, he loves her just the same, and sometimes hesitates to discipline her. When he does so, it usually takes the form of yelling, taking away dessert, or sending her to her room, never hitting or spanking. However, he admits being aware of his parenting flaws in The Baby Vanishes and realizes how much he spoils Angelica and gives into many of her demands.
Possibly because he is the older son and is an accountant for regular and wealthy clients, Drew has somewhat of a superiority complex that is fairly obvious mainly when around Stu.
He is the eldest son of Lou and Trixie Pickles, and he often engages in a sibling rivalry with his younger brother Stu. The brothers can often be seen fighting with each other, most notably in The Rugrats Movie, when Drew was bickering on how unrealistic and irresponsible Stu's toy-building career is. When Drew learns that Stu lost Angelica while watching the kids, he furiously attacks Stu's neglectfulness. Almost any time there is a celebration or get-together involving Stu and his family, Drew is usually involved, with Angelica in tow.
While Drew appears to be a stable accountant, he has shown some shady tendencies and usually will not hesitate to join the money favored side/deal. Such a time this can be seen is in Chuckie is Rich when he right away went to Chas for investment money for an invention and ended up causing his friend to lose his new fortune.
Looks
Drew has peach-colored skin, light brown hair, and a large nose identical to his younger brother's and his dad's. He wears square glasses with a green-rimmed frames. The character is normally shown wearing a light blue undershirt and a green and dark blue vest, blue jeans, and brown shoes.
In All Grown Up!, he loses some hair and grows a mustache. He now wears a yellow and brown jacket over a white shirt, khaki pants, and brown shoes.
Relationships
- Angelica Pickles: Drew's only daughter and child. As she is his only child, Drew tends to spoil Angelica and fails to discipline her when needed as he easily falls for her false claims of being remorseful and promising to be better; usually only delivering light scoldings or denying dessert for a short period of time as punishment. Though aware Angelica appears to be advanced for her age, Drew often fails to notice her manipulations in order to get what she wants, such as in The Baby Vanishes when he catches her playing with Charolette's make-up but didn't punish her because she made the claim he doesn't love her anymore. In the same episode, he admits to the adults that he spoils Angelica by getting her new toys almost on a daily basis, lets her use his designer ties as jump ropes, and lets her eat junk food for dinner several nights a week; indicating that he greatly fears Angelica not loving him if he doesn't let her have her way. Despite these negative traits, Drew cares for Angelica very much and often rushes forward when he thinks she needs his help and comfort.
- Charlotte Pickles: Drew's wife. Their relationship appears quite strong although Drew sometimes shows discomfort at his job being on a lesser level of importance and/or income than hers. Knowing his wife's workaholic nature, he at times tries to get her to cut back on this and strengthen her relationship with their family and friends.
- Stu Pickles: Drew's younger brother. They appear to have a classic example of a sibling relationship with Drew constantly asserting his authority as the older brother over Stu. As he is older, Drew can often be seen using this fact to annoy Stu or get him to do less favorable tasks in certain situations. Because Stu's job as an inventor is not on the same stable level as his own, Drew will at times try to talk Stu into seeking a more reliable line of work.
- Lou Pickles: Drew's father. Like Stu, Drew is quite close to Lou but isn't afraid to call his father out when he tells his exaggerated stories. He also knows how often his father tends to fall asleep, especially when watching the kids, but knows that Lou loves the kids dearly.
