"Clown Around" is a Season 9 episode of Rugrats.

Summary[]
The babies arrive at the circus and want to be clowns to play a game of Clown Around. Unfortunately, however, Chuckie is still afraid of clowns.
Plot[]
Stu, Howard, Drew and Chas take all their kids (except for Dil) to the circus and order backstage passes. Chuckie is nervous about it, but Kimi and Tommy comfort him and tell him that they will be there for him. Meanwhile, Angelica is busy telling her dad what she wants and sees a performer in a tiara walking by. Angelica tells Drew that she wants the tiara and pink dress, but Drew tells her that it's only for the performers. Angelica tells Drew that she could in the circus and Drew tells her that of course she can.
Meanwhile, Phil and Lil go on about the circus tent and see elephants stomp by. Kimi wants to live in the circus and the babies agree with her, but Angelica tells them that the circus is not a place to live in. Angelica explains to the babies that you need to have a special talent and thinks that she has one. Backstage, the men take the babies to see the performers. Stu and Drew see a cage with tigers and the ring of fire. The tiger trainer is trying to get his tigers to jump through the ring of fire to no avail. Meanwhile, Howard buys drinks and cotton candy for the babies.
Chuckie notices some clowns and is very scared. When he sees clowns coming towards him, he screams in fright and hides under the clowns' clothes, shaking in fright. Tommy comforts him and lets him know that clowns are just like people but are silly. Lil thinks there are bad clowns, and Chuckie comes out from hiding, still feeling scared about baby clowns. Phil asks Lil if she ever saw a baby clown and she replies "No." Angelica tells them that maybe there are baby clowns.
Meanwhile, Chas offers Chuckie a snow cone and Chuckie takes a bite out of it. Chuckie turns around with the red snow cone around his lips and Kimi, Tommy, Phil and Lil gasp when they see his lips all red. Chuckie asks what they're starring at, and Chuckie thinks that he has turned into a clown. Stu introduces everybody to the Flying Galanzas and wants their autographs but Drew pushes ahead saying that he saw them first. Angelica tries to do a handstand, but she knocks them over and Drew takes her away from them. He tells her that she did a nice handstand, but the performers are the Flying Galanzas and they fall over. Stu asks them for an autograph for his son Tommy.
Chas buys Kimi a balloon and gives Chuckie clowns shoes, as a circus souvenir. Phil and Lil gasp in fright and think that Chuckie has turned into a clown. Chuckie tries to walk in them but loses his balance and Kimi tells Tommy to tell Chuckie that he really is turning into a clown. Chuckie tries to walk in them again but accidentally gets makeup smeared on his face and Chuckie thinks that he's really turned into a clown, and he screams when he sees his reflection in the mirror. Angelica notices two ladies spinning ribbons and when they are not looking, Angelica sneaks in and tries it out, but she gets caught in them. The ladies sternly look at her and she nervously asks for help to get out of them.
The show is about to begin, and the dads take all the kids into the audience but notice that Chuckie and Angelica are missing. Chuckie has accidentally gotten into the clown act and his disguise is taken off when a clown spills a bucket of water on him. Chas runs to save him and cleans Chuckie up and tells him that he should not be in the circus and is not a clown and takes him back into the audience. Chuckie realizes that his dad was right. Meanwhile, Angelica has sneaked into the Flying Trapeze act and complains that she can do it. She whines that she doesn't want to be in the circus but loses her balance and starts swinging on the trapeze. Drew comes running for her. Phil tells Lil that Angelica does belong in the circus. When Angelica lands in the net, she sees Drew angrily looking at her and as a punishment, he forces her to leave.
As Angelica and her angry dad leave, she asks him if she can still have a twisty balloon. Chuckie tells Tommy, Kimi, Phil and Lil that he's not a clown and is actually enjoying the circus.
Trivia[]
- The plot of this episode takes some similarities to "Circus Angelicus."
- Dil does not appear in this episode.
- This is the second episode (after "Angelica the Magnificent," all the way back in Season 2) where all the Rugrats' dads appear without any of the moms appearing.
