Characters Present[]
Character Mentioned[]
Summary[]
After Angelica convinces Chuckie that he's ugly, he takes a cue from the caterpillar and wraps himself in a cocoon, hoping he'll emerge as a cuter kid. - Description from Klasky Csupo
Plot[]
The babies are watching a butterfly come out of its cocoon while the grownups are watching Dil. Chuckie's doing somersaults, but he goes unnoticed. Angelica wears ballerina, ballet shoes and hair up into her bun, and Angelica informs Chuckie that he has grown out of being cute, then starts dancing. Chuckie is talking about eating moldy crackers and yicky juice for the rest of my life. Stu gives the babies ice blocks which Chuckie refuses for fear of getting it on his face. Then he decides to wrap himself up in a cocoon of blankets-- not to turn into a butterfly but to become cuter. He has a dream where he turns into some sort of butterfly-hybrid called a Chuckerfly. When he wakes up, people are noticing him but not Angelica, so she tries to cocoon herself too.
Trivia[]
- Another Klasky Csupo cartoon, Santo Bugito, had a character named Miguel who sat silently waiting to hatch from his cocoon. He never did through the run of the show.
- Angelica's statement, "Some people stay beautiful forever, unless of course, you get 'elastic perjury'", is ironic because in All Grown Up!, her mother gets plastic surgery for herself.
- The music heard during the caterpillar's walk in the opening was used in Rugrats: Search for Reptar.
- Moral: Cuteness isn’t all on the outside; it’s also on the inside.
- This is the first episode where Angelica appears in a ballerina outfit.
Goofs[]
- When Tommy is explaining to his friends how caterpillars (referred to by the babies as "kitty-pillars") turn into butterflies, they initially mispronounce it as "butler-fly", "Flutterby" or "Barfly." But afterward, they correctly pronounce it as "butterfly."
- Didi isn't holding Dil when Chuckie approaches her and the adults, but she does afterward. Correctly it as "pot-stickle" "mop-sickle" and "pot-stickle" instead of pop-sickle and pronounced it as "freckers" instead of "freckles".
- In the dream, everyone except Chuckie’s skin colors is purple.
- However, dreams don't normally make a lot of sense, so it could've just been part of Chuckie's dream.
