Boris Kropotkin (born 1946) is the husband of Minka Kropotkin, the father of Didi Pickles, the father-in-law of Stu Pickles, and the maternal grandfather of Tommy and Dil in Nickelodeon's 2021 animated TV series Rugrats. He and Lou have a friendly rivalry as shown in the episode "Rattled" where they engage in a small cooking competition together in the Pickles' family kitchen.
Description
Boris апа Minka are Didi’s parents. They live in Florida, but grew up in NY as first generation American Jews whose parents ran competing delicatessens across the street from each other. They were the rye bread version of Romeo and Juliet, and have been happily married (if you don’t count the constant bickering) for decades. They love their only grandchild, Tommy, and use Bubbe and Zayde as their grandparent names. They love to see Tommy and his friends via video chat on their tablet. Didi’s parents sometimes frustrate her with their unsolicited advice, questions and opinions, but she misses them dearly and it’s always a big occasion when they come to town. [2]
Boris is the grandfather of Tommy and Dil. Being Jewish, Boris and Minka embrace their faith well, sharing their faith with their extended family and their friends. Unlike his 1991 counterpart, Boris is no longer a Russian immigrant, instead being a Florida resident who regularly FaceTimes the Pickles family, which Tommy misinterprets as a television series he calls the Bubbe and Zayde Show. As such, Tommy is at first confused beyond measure when Boris and Minka arrive at the Pickles family household for a personal visit.
Looks
Boris has fair skin, and a few hairs on his head. In the 2021 series, his appearance has changed as he now looks closer to an older version of Tommy. He is often seen wearing a blue Hawaiian shirt, pink shorts, white and red crew socks, and blue sandals. In the "Traditions" episode he is seen wearing a blue Chanukah themed sweater with dreidels printed across the sweater.

- In the 2021 series, Boris is referred to by Tommy as "Zayde." Zayde[3] is the Yiddish word for "grandfather."
