Armadillo Dave is an in-universe superhero character created by Max Leopold in All Grown Up! He is the titular character of the Armadillo Dave comic line and is Chuckie's favorite superhero. His comic book series spanned a 42-year publication run before being canceled during the events of "Super Hero Worship."
Background[]
Armadillo Dave was created by Max Leopold 42 years prior to the events of All Grown Up! He is an ordinary human being who works as a mail carrier until he transitions into his superhero persona to rescue Dara Dark and foil Mantooth's evil plots in the process. Unfortunately, on what would be his final mission, when he was rushing to save Dara (who was tied and left alone on a ferris wheel by Mantooth) Armadillo Dave is stopped by Mr. Plank, who informs him that they (Plank Comics) will be cancelling the Armadillo Dave series. Armadillo Dave and Dara try to escape but are eventually captured, to which, Armadillo Dave calls Mr. Plank a "monster."
Description[]
Armadillo Dave takes the form of a southern long-nosed armadillo, though it's unclear if he's wearing a suit or if his look is a mutation.
His "suit" consists of a yellow abdomen, orangish shell, a belt buckle, tail, and a blue "AD" imprinted on his torso. He also wears glasses due to being nearsighted.
When confronting Chuckie about being upset about the series' cancellation, Tommy describes Armadillo Dave as being "the lamest superhero ever," citing his nearsightedness, slow mobility, and klutzy nature.
Powers[]
It is unknown how many powers does Armadillo Dave have, but one can assume it's severely limiting due to his drawbacks and defensive nature. Here are the following powers that we know of so far due to them being stated in "Super Hero Worship."
- Shell block:
- Armadillo Dave can cocoon himself in his shell to protect himself from physical attacks. He does this during the opening sequence of "Super Hero Worship," where he shields himself from Manooth's goons.
- Burrowing:
- According to Chuckie, Armadillo Dave relied on this ability (as well as his poor eye sight) to navigate himself out of the Dryer of a Thousand Socks.

- He is Chuckie's favorite superhero.
- Max Leopold incorrectly calls him a "crustacean," to which Chuckie corrects him by saying his actual classification name—dasypus hybridus (southern long-nosed armadillo)
- Harold also finds Armadillo Dave to be "lame."
- Chuckie states that he had "seven good years" with the character, as he didn't start reading 'til he was five years-old.
- Armadillo Dave's characteristics of nearsightedness, slow movement, and klutzy nature, are all qualities Chuckie identifies with and is a major reason why he adores the character so much.
- Though it's not shown, but it's plausible that Mr. Plank and his goons captured Mantooth as well, since he was also in the same panel.
- It's possible that he was inspired by Spider-Man.
- A running gag in his comic is that he always trips over his mail bag after successfully completing his mission.
- Armadillo Dave spawned a variety of merchandise during his 42-year run. Majority of them can be seen in Chuckie's room.
