Angelica the Magnificent is an episode of Rugrats from Season 2.

Synopsis

With her Wee Wizard Magic Kit, Angelica finds it's easy to make things disappear -- even Lil. But can she get her back before Stu, Drew, Howard and Chas finish building their storage shed? - Description from Klasky Csupo.

Summary

A new magic kit installs a new hobby for Angelica, who desperately wants to demonstrate for anyone who will pay attention to her. The adults are too busy doing yardwork, so the babies are chosen to be the audience. Unfortunately, Angelica's latest trick seems to make Lil transform into a butterfly. It is up to "the magician" to get Lil back before the adults find out.

Recap

Angelica tries to make a ball disappear, with unsuccessful results. As Drew tries to have Stu, Chas and Howard help him build his shed, he "helps" his daughter by asking her to sprinkle some fairy dust. As she does so, Drew sneaks the ball out of her cup, and Angelica thinks that the trick worked. She shows off the magic trick again and again to the dads, but they are getting tired. Drew asks if she can perform the magic trick to the babies.

She puts on a magic show, putting on her magician costume from her "Wee Wizard" magic kit. She shows the trick to the babies, and after doing so, the ball falls out from under the cup. Angelica's next trick, making her wand float in thin air, was clearly seen by Lil, who points out that it is hanging on a string. Lil also wants Angelica to pull a rabbit out of her hat, but Angelica cannot. Lil whines that it was supposed to be a magic show. Angelica, fed up with Lil, ought to make her disappear. Tommy, Chuckie and Phil are delighted. After being asked by the boy babies, Angelica looks at the dads working on the shed, and asks the babies to wait, thinking a nasty plan to make Lil disappear.

She returns with a cardboard box, and asks Lil to step in. As Angelica is reciting the magic words, Lil sneaks out of the box and follows a butterfly, not knowing that another gets into the box. Angelica's trick was a "success", but Chuckie points out that Angelica turned Lil into a butterfly. The babies follow the butterfly that they think is Lil and retrieve it while Angelica thinks of a nasty plot to get rid of her preschool friends. With the butterfly returned, Angelica tries to "change Lil back", but with unsuccessful results. Since Angelica cannot do anything to get Lil back, Tommy points that Angelica will get into really big trouble with their dads' when they find out what Angelica did to Lil.

Angelica suggests that Phil puts on a pink bow, pretending to be Lil. Chuckie disagrees, asking who would be Phil. Phil begs Angelica to bring Lil back and Tommy tells her to tell the dads what she did. Lil, looking at Angelica's discarded magic hat, is disappointed not to find a rabbit in it, then asks the boys what Angelica was doing. The boys are amazed to see Lil again.

Angelica tries to tell the dads, but fibs that the babies dug a hole and buried Lil in it. The dads are shocked, but relieved to see that the babies were fine. Drew thinks that Angelica was watching too many cartoons and suggests that she'd be put down for a nap. As Drew carries the tragedy fussy Angelica into the house, Tommy grabs her wand and attempts to do a magic trick on the now-finished shed.

Unfortunately, the shed was completely unstable, and then falls into pieces. Because it fell apart when Tommy pointed at it, Tommy thinks he caused it. Tommy throws the wand away, telling Chuckie that there are some things that even a baby can't mess around with.

Trivia

• When Angelica tries to bring Lil back after making her disappear, her spell includes the words "In A-Gadda-Da-Vida," the famous 13-minute song by Iron Butterfly.
• In the early draft, Nickelodeon requested that the scenes involving the shed must be removed from the script, but it remained in the episode.
